Week 4 - The Time is Near - Aug. 14, 2024

 Hello All,


Welcome back to the life of a missionary in training. Like last week, this week consisted a lot of the typical. Lots of spanish classes, devotionals, and mediocre food. However, today officially marks one week until Argentina!! (I promise these emails will get a lot more interesting here soon) Also, I have been a missionary since July 8th which means well over a month now.

Time truly does fly when you forget yourself in the work.

Since not much went on this week besides lots of studying, I would like to finish with a spiritual thought. 

This week in a devotional we learned a lot about what it truly means to be selfless. This trait is something we should all strive to exhibit in our lives. Jesus Christ is this trait. He turned outwards when the natural human in us turns inward. Our Savior ministered to the poor, fed the hungry, healed the sick. He 'went about doing good', yet was despised for it. Our Savior sweat drops of blood, for each and every sin, pain, agony, hardship, trail, turmoil, weakness, EVERYTHING!! He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world. Our Savior was a God on earth, immortal, but he voluntarily gave himself unto death. FOR US. 

If that isn't selflessness I don't know what it is. 

Lastly, having a testimony of the gospel is not enough, we have to constantly be 'converted' unto the lord. Conversion is a continual process, but it means consistently being true to what you know. Be an example of Christ, show what you believe in through your actions, demonstrate your faith constantly, put your testimony to use, work constantly to become a true disciple of Christ, and love God with all your heart. This is being converted. 

New Testament- Mathew 10:39 

39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Book Of Mormon - Ether 12:27

27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

  My Last comp, Elder Engar, described it perfectly. The mission is like a simple house drawing  ... The first wall is the first 6 months, straight up, next you've got the roof going up still but a little less of an Incline. Then you've got the rest, but I haven't gotten there yet so we will save that for later.  I am at that stage on the mish where things slow down a bit, yet at the same time, that is a lie. Don't ask me how it works, I don't know. All I know is that here soon we will be hitting the 11 month mark. Last time I checked, I was getting trained by Elder Myers... but eh, who checks anyways. Here in 2 weeks we will have transfers. I am most likely out of here but I don't wanna jinx anything, so I'll stay shut. As of now I have 2 areas in the mission, almost at the 11 month mark. Bendiciones Del Día a Día - Nov. 18. 2024

  Howdy Everyone!!  Another week, another update. Hope everyone is absolutely loving life back in the States, or wherever else you are. Just finished off the first week with a new comp and as a trainer! Still absolutely loving life as a missionary, and being able to wake up and go to work with one purpose in mind! Occasionally I'll have to pinch myself and remember I am across the world, walking the streets as a 19 yr old!!! Crazy One large blessing that I have noticed this week is that the gift of tongues is truly real!!! I'm not sure if I just didn't open my mouth enough or what, but geez my spanish took a huge leap in 1 week! The blessings of training eh... So yeah, I'm thinking it's because I'm literally the one having to keep us alive right now haha, wether it be teaching lessons, or street conversations, talking with members, or even just buying/ordering food, I am lucky enough to have to do it all, and obviously In spanish!! Week 2 - Mucho Lluvia - Sept. 2, 2024

  Well Hello There, Welcome back to Elder Bowcutt's adventures out in the wild province of Trujui, Argentina!! I can confirm, I have yet to get robbed, woot woot (knock on wood)  It may seem bad, but I promise the large majority of the people here are so amazing and receptive to having a conversation in the middle of the street. The work is definitely progressing and I have officially made it 2 weeks here in Argentina!! (2 months as a missionary next Sunday) Like most weeks, this week definitely had it's fairly share of amazing moments, exciting moments, funny moments, scary moments, and difficult moments.  Tuesday: We started out strong, lots of sun, started to warm up, and got to talk to lots of people on the street. Had a few lessons then hopped on a bus and train to travel to the mission office about 40min away.
