Su Obra, Su Voluntad - Oct. 14, 2024

 Howdy Ya'll! 🤠

Happy to let everyone know, im still holding firm to my Texan slang!! Pero bueno, espero que todos están bien! Unfortunately didn't get time last week to write an email, so this will be a quick update on the past two weeks.

Hit 3 months on the mission a week ago! Starting to lose track of the days, which is always a good sign of getting blended into the life of a missionary! Each day is filled with a new journey catered to finding, teaching, and serving the people here in Trujui. I know I haven't been here very long, but I absolutely can see the progression and experience I've gained in just 3 short months! The work is rapidly and steadily moving forward, each and every day. This truly is a great work, HIS work. And as for the Español, looking back to when I first started home mtc... all ive got to say is wow. I'm not fluent by any means, but just being able to actually generally understand and have basic conversations with people is such a huge step in the right direction!

As for these past 2 weeks, I would like to say its been "the typical", but the truth is, there is never the "typical" when it comes to serving the Lord. Each day is filled with unique experiences and opportunities! I am happy to say though, we are still repping out around 25k steps a day, so that is great. But anyways, here's a few experiences! Hope you enjoy...

10/2-

Stopped by an Hermana in the ward to see how she was doing. Turns out she has a turtle with 3 legs!! Got a killer Pic, and invited her to watch conference.

10/3-

Basketball Night!! Ran up some 5v5 basketball which is odd to say. Typically it is only fútbol around here, but we found out that there is a handful of people in the stake that love to play and even have a rec team! Happy to say my team won, and I even had a few dunks. (Little highlight Vid of an hermano in Google photos😂

10/5-

Conference!!!! Wow. I know every missionary says this, but being here truly puts General Conference into a different perspective. Not falling asleep... and watching every talk allows for a whole new spiritual vision of the role of Apostles and Prophets. (Don't have any pics from it, so here's one of Daffy and Snoopy)

10/8 -

So we met a new friend named Diego who randomly came to Conference. He is homeless and is definitely a little out there but a cool guy. We scheduled a lesson with him and he actually came right on time which is a first. (Argentines are late to Everything...)
But anyways, we get into the lesson and ask him a simple question of "So tell us how you have seen God's hand in your life". (Bad Idea) I kid you not, he starts at the year he was born (1977) and goes year by year describing his whole life, conspiracy stories, how he's homeless, how he works in the streets and feels free, his huge notebook of theories, swastikas, creepy drawings, and a chart of how many times the bible talks about monkeys?? How he hates Argentina, how he thinks the government is spying on him... all of it. And everytime we tried to interrupt, he would just kept talking. This went on for 1 hour. So, yeah that's Diego.

10/9-

Haha. OK yeah. Another Diego story. So this night we had Noche de Hogar (Ward Family Home Evening). We were able to get our friends Oscar and Diego to both come! The topic for the night was about 10 commandments which actually went great. But. The bishop asked the question to everyone who was there "How do you follow commandments in your life". Diego raises his hand. My comp and I look at eachother... oh no. But believe it or not, he started to give a great and heartfelt answer... that is until he pulls out the notebook. And just like that he's right back to his monkey and evolution theories. Everyone was too mesmerized to say anything, so for 10min he just talked about his theories and the government until finally the Bishop stopped him and shared The Book of Gensis with him...

(Nothing to do with Diego, but a nice sunset)

10/12-

Last but not least! We had a baptism!! For the past 3 weeks we have been progressing a friend named Anabella towards baptism! She is 24 years old and sent in a reference online to have the missionaries stop by. Unfortunately, it wasn't the easiest 3 weeks as she had a major crush on my comp😭 and shared it openly. And she has a learning disorder, so would forget everything we taught her 5min later. It was not the easiest thing in the world, but through the help of the ward, our misión pres, and her own desire to find the truth in this world of confusion, she was baptized and confirmed a member of La Iglesia de Jesucristo de Los Santos de Los Últimos Días, yesterday! One more daughter of God, brought unto Him and the fullness of The Gospel of Jesus Christ!

There truly is no work like it. This work is unique. Because it is HIS work. We are simply the instruments. There is nothing else out there like helping a Child of God realize their true *Divine Potential*. Is being a missionary the easiest thing in the world?? no. However it quite literally is the MOST fulfilling and spiritually strengthening experience out there. And put into simple terms. I love being a missionary. I love the good days, the bad days, and the in-between. All of it. How great shall be your Joy...

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Is the true Church on the earth today and contains the Fullness of The everlasting Gospel, simply because it is HIS church. I say that with all of my heart. I invite all to come and see. Taste of the fruit, taste of the joy. Simply put, because this Is, "The Church of Joy" - Elder Patrick Kearon.

Alma 26: 35-36

35 Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name.

36 Now if this is boasting, even so will I boast; for this is my life and my light, my joy and my salvation, and my redemption from everlasting wo. Yea, blessed is the name of my God, who has been mindful of this people, who are a branch of the tree of Israel, and has been lost from its body in a strange land; yea, I say, blessed be the name of my God, who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Much Love,
Elder Bowcutt🫡
