Rain, Rain, Go Away - Dec. 2, 2024

Hola Buen Día todo! Como andan? Todo tranqui?

Back with another weekly update from down here in Trujui, Argentina! Yep still holding strong to my Trujui roots. It is going to be a sad day to say the least once I get transferred out!

Nothing crazy happened this week, although we did get a few "15min" storms!! Quite literally they last for like 15min and then blue skies right after. It reminds me of the weather in Texas! At one point, in the middle of the night both me and my comp got woken up by one of the loudest lightning strikes i've heard! It rained at least once every day this week, which i normally dont mind. But the simple fact of the matter down here is that rain=nobody! It's a ghost town!!

Anyways, enough about rain and into a few weekly events!!

11/25-

Always a great day when you get to talk to the fam. Had some fun facebook messenger "face filter" battles with the bros. Also, I went and bought a Christmas tree!! Honestly, they are not at all festive down here and I have yet to see Christmas lights, so I was definitely lacking the festive vibes. So, i had to bring them in myself! (Vid in Google photos)

11/26-

So, Elder Jones has a cat allergy, but had been playing with some kittens earlier and nothing happened so he thought he outgrew the allergy... Well, this evening we were in a chat with our main man Leonel who's in his 90's, (He was baptized by Elder Christopherson or Bednar, dont remember for sure). Anyways, he had a very loving cat who decided to jump on our laps and rub it's fur all over us. Well, let's just say Elder Jones found out the allergy indeed still does exist. He got some hives and his eyes and face swelled up, but he's ok dont worry. (Vid of Leonel singing in Google photos)

11/27-

Decided to go clap some houses in the nicer part of our area with bigger and more spread out houses. Usually we don't go there because there has never been much success, but we decided to try it out again. No joke the very first house we clap, the person yells "Go back to the country you came from you *****" and then flips us off. I swear the people are usually nice around here!! Definitely an odd and partially amusing occurrence...

11/28-

Pretty chill day, although we did finish off the day by having a lesson with a lady named Rosanna who made us an awesome mango smoothie!! Then right after that went home and had burgers and a large ice cream slushie from an ironically funny restaurant named "Santo Pecado" or "Holy Sin". It was pretty good, but as I type this I am realizing I should probably tone down the sugar.

12/1-

Andddd last but not least, in all these fun experiences I promise we are still working. Elizabeth got baptized!!! Woot woot. We had been working with her for only 2 weeks as she was extremely ready. She had been trying to find something different her whole life and unfortunately is separated and raising 4 kids alone. But it's Ok because shes not alone in her journey, and neither are any of us!! In her own words she said "I have truly found what I have been looking for, my whole life. The path and example of Jesus Christ. It's as simple as that.

D&C 123:12

12 For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and ***who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it.***

John 17:3

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

To finish off, this week I have been doing a lot of study on the spirit world and angels. I have never really thought about it in depth, but we quite literally have angels around us all the time. Wether that be angels in the spirit world or angels in this world. They are always there for a purpose. We are never alone. In the deepest times of sorrow or need, there is always someone there to comfort us and lend a hand. For me, I have never had a specific experience in my life where I have seen an angel or anything, but I testify with all my heart that they are there, and I have felt them in times of greatest despair or grief.

One earthly angel who has always been there for me is my mom. I love her with all my heart!! I know it's not mother's day or anything, but with Thanksgiving just having passed I just want to share how grateful I am for her. My whole life she has been by my side, supporting me through the ups and downs, wether it be running or just daily life. To me, she is the definition of motherly love, and that is an earthly angel. (Love you too dad, your next dont worry)

"My beloved brothers and sisters, I testify of angels, both the heavenly and the mortal kind. In doing so I am testifying that God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face. “[N]or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man [or woman or child] upon the face thereof to be saved.” On occasions, global or personal, we may feel we are distanced from God, shut out from heaven, lost, alone in dark and dreary places. Often enough that distress can be of our own making, but even then the Father of us all is watching and assisting. And always there are those angels who come and go all around us, seen and unseen, known and unknown, mortal and immortal."
