I'm Training?? Weekly Update! - Nov. 11, 2024
Buen día, como andan? Todobien??
Fua, que bueno. Another week, another update! Hope everyone is doing great! Pretty interesting and amazing week. I officially hit 4 months as a missionary a few days ago so that is awesome, time just keeps on passing crazy fast.
We're starting to reach the 90⁰'s here so wish us luck. Although in reality, the climate here is literally just DFW weather, so it's not too bad.
But yeah, enough of the weather, might as well get to the elephant in the room... so yeah, you read the title right. Hah. And yes, today is my last day of literally getting trained myself. Our mission president decided to give me a call last night, asking if I would be able to train one of the new missionaries coming from the training center. I have to admit, I was a little shocked and still am, but in reality, i understand it's all in the Lord's will, not mine. I truly am so grateful to be trusted by such an amazing mission president and The Lord in this task, and will give my 100% every day! Will it be a little difficult? Yes of course, especially as I am not exactly fluent yet by any means at all. Oh, and I'll tell you what, if you ever start to have confidence in your spanish, just go join in on a game of fútbol and you'll be humbled very quick haha. (Main reason being, they just say bad words, so maybe it's good I can't understand...) But anyways, yeah, wow, I am going to be training directly out of getting trained myself. I still don't know who, but luckily I will be training here in Trujui, so at least I know the area. Wish me luck!!
Now for the week:
11/4-
PDayyyyy, poured rain for half of the day as shown in Google photos. So that was a bummer. Luckily, our main man Louis Ruiz, happened to be at the grocery store we were at and offered to drive us home! We then, went to Moreno Centro with the district and dined on some amazing milanesa! Finished off the day by making a very dumb mistake. Sooo, around here they don't sell apple products pretty much anywhere. I was wanting some airpods, however, could not find them. That was, until we came upon a store literally called "casa de apple". We decided to go in, and wowww, there was the airpods, and apple phones. We asked to see them, checked everything out, and they seemed decently legit haha. (In the back of my mind I was fairly certain they were fake, buttt decided to go for it for $65). Welp yeah, turns out they were fakes from China. I'm going to try to return then today so wish me luck...
11/5-
Did some service and built a garden with Patricia, our recent convert!!
11/6-
Zone Conference!! I absolutely love going to these as they are a full on spiritual reset!! It gets you back on track and sets the mood for the next transfer. This conference in specific we focused a ton on the true meaning of "high expectations" and of course our purpose here as missionaries.
As missionaries sometimes we get caught up too much in "the life" and forget to step back and realize what our true purpose here is. Simply put:
3 Nephi 5:13
13 Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
Wow. So simple. Yet at the same time, the most important work going on in the world right now. Helping others understand their true Divine Potential, and most of all, opening the gate to eventual exaltation unto the most high God.
Finished out the night with a Noche de Hogar with the ward! Ne and my comp even did a musical number!
11/7-
Did an exchange (Where you go with another missionary in a different area for 24hrs). For this specific exchange I was in Marilo, with my zone leader, Elder Westenskow. Let's just say we went crazy!! (In a good way) Talked with literally every single person, had a ton of lessons, put a Child of God on date for baptism, and worked literally from 6:30am-9:30pm. But... somehow through all that, I did not feel an ounce of exhaustion that day. How so? Well, that day I realized, the more you put in, the more you will receive back from the Lord. He loves and blesses effort.

11/9-
Was a great day filled with finding new people to teach and sharing our unique message to everyone! We had a lesson planned with Oscar at 7:30pm at the church. Well, let me tell you a little about Oscar. That man can NOT get anywhere on time. Like literally. We've had multiple conversations about It, but he literally is always at least an hour late. But anyways, this specific night, we were playing some fútbol, while waiting for Oscar to show up to try on his baptismal clothes! We wait and wait and wait but nothing. Eventually we pack up at 9:15pm and start walking out the door. Annnnd boom, there was Oscar. Funny, enough, this isn't the first time that has happened. There once was one lesson we waited an hour, and as we were locking to doors to the church, and leaving a card for him, he came waddling up. Although those circumstances may not seem like anything crazy. They are miracles!! That man was meant to be baptized one way or another.
11/10-
Last but not least finished out the week with the baptism of our friend Oscar!!! And yet, another soul, brought until the FULLNESS of The everlasting Gospel on the earth today. "How great shall be your joy". I testify that this work truly is Joy.

To finish out. Here's a quote from a talk I read this week from Henry B. Eyring (A modern day Apostle). Highly recommend reading it:
This Day
Quote and Promise:
For those who are discouraged by their circumstances and are therefore tempted to feel they cannot serve the Lord this day, I make you two promises. Hard as things seem today, they will be better in the next day if you choose to serve the Lord this day with your whole heart. Your circumstances may not be improved in all the ways which you desire. But you will have been given new strength to carry your burdens and new confidence that when your burdens become too heavy, the Lord, whom you have served, will carry what you cannot. He knows how. He prepared long ago. He suffered your infirmities and your sorrows when He was in the flesh so that He would know how to succor you.
Love you all!! Feel free to send me updates on anything, I love to hear back!
